Conventional Medicine vs. Functional Medicine

If conventional medicine isn’t working for you, it may be time to try a holistic approach. Functional medicine can sometimes achieve resolution of illnesses that were thought to be untreatable in conventional medicine. Here’s how functional medicine makes a difference:

Conventional Care

Diagnoses Illness

Pharmaceutical, Surgery, & Procedure Based

Pathology & Disease Focused

Disease Centered, Generalized Approach

Patient passively receives treatment

Treats Symptoms from the Outside In

Views the Body as a Collection of Separate Parts

Functional Care

Identifies Sources of Illness

Lifestyle, Genetics, & Nutrition Based

Function & Prevention Focused

Patient Centered, Personalized Approach

Patient Actively Participates in Treatment

Treats the Root Cause from the Inside Out

Views the Body as an Interconnected Whole

What does a Treatment Plan look like?

Functional medicine focuses on optimizing the health of your mind, body, and spirit using a multi-disciplinary approach to chronic illnesses.

Treatments can include plans for prescribed combinations of medications, supplements, nutrient therapy, diet and exercise plans, detoxification programs, health coaching, behavioral therapy, stress management, relaxation techniques, hormone therapy, and lifestyle changes. These treatments address the five root causes of dis-ease: faulty gut function, toxicity, hormone imbalances, stress, and insulin resistance.
